Boundary Disputes

Legal disputes concerning property lines are one of the more prominent areas of real estate litigation. These boundary disputes are generally governed by complex, and sometimes archaic, legal doctrine. If a property owner is unlawfully infringing upon your property, or unknowingly using your property, action should be taken as soon as possible. Many times if action is not taken within a specific time frame the right to do so in the future is lost.

While the dispute may be settled by neighboring property owners in a peaceful, timely manner many times a legal dispute ensues. In certain situations, courts may resolve the dispute by re-drawing the property lines to reflect a prior understanding between two neighboring property owners. Other times the lines are changed and one side loses value they sometimes never realized they had.

Generally, property line disputes are focused on one of the more specific issues listed below. Please feel free to click the links to learn more.
