July 9, 2025Beginning this fall, New York City will make housing code violations for all NYCHA properties publicly available through the HPD Online portal. This includes developments under private management through the RAD program.
The policy change follows a legal settlement with the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG), which sued the City for failing to comply with a 2023 law requiring public access to NYCHA inspection data.
Until now, NYCHA was excluded from the same transparency standards applied to private landlords. This marks the first time that violations in public housing will be accessible to tenants, advocates, and the public
